Burnouts are single-handedly destroying the personal and professional confidence of a countless amount of entrepreneurs. It can get lonely when you’re on top and are your own boss. Learn how to deal with it and become better, stronger, and wiser in this T.I.M Exclusive.

1. Be disciplined

“[tag]Discipline[Tag] is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”Jim Rohn

When suffering a burnout keep one thing in mind – discipline. When you are an [tag]entrepreneur[/tag], you are the captain of the ship. Up ahead lie troubled waters, do you have the work ethic and self-discipline to weather through the storm? Many people react on impulses and run on emotions, which is why they celebrate a professional accomplishment too fast, and take a loss too personally. You must keep your composure and accept all news (whether good or bad) as a regular occurrence. A level headed individual that sees what lies ahead is a successful individual.

2. Stay Hungry

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” Gail Devers

There will be bumps and curves in the road that will lead you straight into a ditch. You will be heart broken and uninspired to carry on. Tempted to throw in the towel, you will begin to invent excuses to rationalize your decision. It is as this point you must stand back, take a breather, and look at why you’ve decided to become your own boss in the first place. Remember the mistreatment you received by the countless employers you worked for, remember the financial freedom you yearn for, and remember the self-satisfaction and completion entrepreneurship brings. Take a look at the athletes that train for years for that one Olympic race, only to be sidelined by an injury they suffer while warming up. They are devastated but vow to carry on because it is what they love to do, it is what they were born to do, and no obstacle in this world can throw them off their game. So they will spend four more years training and pushing themselves to the limit, in order to have a shot at gold. Learn from this and stay hungry.

3. You are your own best friend.

“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.” Howard Thurman

When you first opened up your business, they said you shouldn’t do it. They told you they were just looking out for you, when they said that there is too much competition and you’d never make it. Well you proved them all wrong and they realized they were wrong to doubt you. A couple years later, you’re in a slump missing straight balls coming right across the plate, and they’re back once again. Their criticisms and remarks are harsher, more direct, and start to make sense. What should you do? Realize that you are your own best friend and you know best. Whether its your parents, your other half, or your best friend, they only see a snapshot of a bigger image that resides in your heart. It is that image that guides you to success, and only you know how clear it is. If it is not clear but you are passionate enough to make it work, strategize and tweak the focus of the image. But don’t let anybody destroy the film.

In the end, advice given through blocks of text is as good as the application of it. It is not sufficient to read [tag]advice[/tag] and be in the same state of mind that got you burned out. You must take and mold the advice to fit your situation, and follow it with utmost trust. When you have your back against a wall, think clearly, strategize and make your way back into the limelight. Do this and the [tag]burnout[/tag] will turn into a burn from the Caribbean sun – as you lie on the beach reminiscing about the hardships you faced on your path to [tag]success. [/tag]
