Discover the Exciting Life you were Meant to Live

Published on

Have you ever wondered if there was something more to life? Would you like to find out how to live the life of your dreams? If you answered yes to these questions, this could be the most important thing you read.

There are several steps to discovering the exciting life you were meant to live. The first step consists of finding your passion in life. Simply ask yourself what are you most passionate about? What fills you with desire so much that you would rather do that than anything else in the world?

You can find your passion by starting with a blank sheet of paper. Put the words “I am most passionate about” at the top of the paper. Then take no more than five minutes to write down fifteen to twenty sentences. Do not think about the answers you write; just let your pen flow as quickly as your hand can write. You can also perform this exercise using a computer.

Try this technique once a day for a week. After you have a collection of answers, go over each one using critical analysis. Your subconscious will have revealed to you what truly fills you with passion. Now look for recurring themes in your answers. Then using your conscious mind, choose one answer you think you can make your life’s work. This will be the basis upon which your new life will be built.

The second step to discovering an exciting life consists of creating a plan and setting specific goals. This is where you translate your ideological longings into practical action steps. Once you are sure you know what you want to do with your life—once you have found your passion—do some research to learn what you need to do to make your passion a reality. Then with this knowledge, draft a plan that will help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

It is best to keep your plan simple so you can follow it. For example, you might have to go back to school to get a college degree or you might have to take specialized classes. Then you might have to move across the country or to a different part of the world. Do not be afraid; be bold regarding your passion. Once you have determined what you want to do, apply yourself 100%.

After you have drafted a plan for your new life, set specific goals and assign a deadline to complete each goal. This will allow you to stay on track. For example, if you have to go back to college, set a goal to visit three colleges within the next week. Or if you have to move across the country, call someone you know near that area and learn everything you can about it.

The third step to discovering an exciting life consists of cultivating enthusiasm. It is enthusiasm that will get you past what appears to be insurmountable obstacles. You might be starting out with little money and knowledge, but if you are enthusiastic in your endeavor, this will spread to other people around you. They will want to assist you. You will experience serendipitous events that seem to conspire to help you.

If you are not genuinely enthusiastic about your new direction in life, it clearly is not your passion. You will need to go back and find your true passion. When you are sure you are heading in the right direction, you can cultivate enthusiasm by a process called visualization. Take some time on a regular basis to visualize the life of your dreams. What specifically would you be doing? How would you look? Who would benefit from your work? Use your imagination to answer these and related questions. Visualize your new life in full detail. You might do this exercise before falling asleep at night or upon waking in the morning for a month. You will feel surges of enthusiasm during and after these mental exercises.

The fourth step to discovering an exciting life consists of staying focused. By now you will have direction, a plan, goals and enthusiasm. It is crucial to stay on track. You will be confronted by unexpected obstacles and distractions as you move in the direction of your dreams. Make sure you remain focused on your passion. Remember this is your ticket to the exciting life you were meant to live. No one outside yourself can tell you what your passion is; only you can determine it. And once you have determined it, stick to it.

This does not mean you should persist in the face of repeated failures. Remain open to feedback and make reasonable adjustments. Allow reality to play a role in your decisions rather than trying to force your will onto reality. But do not give up when things look grim. There are a lot of bad things in life; that is a fact. Know this but keep firm to your passion and vision, even if you have to adjust to particular circumstances.

The fifth step to discovering an exciting life consists of taking action. Without this step, all the previous steps are worthless. You can plan and research and visualize day after day, but without taking action on your plans, nothing much will happen. You make things happen—you change your life for the better—through action. Of course it is advisable to know where you are going before you begin your journey. But once you know where you are going and know how you will get there, you must take non-stop action.

You will have to take a lot of action, at least during the early stages of your new life. In fact, much of your life will change as you meet new people, learn new things and have new experiences. Sometimes you will feel fear because of your lack of experience in new areas. This is a natural feeling. Allow yourself to feel fear and then do what you know is right. Take action, lots of it, and do not stop until you are living the life of your dreams—until you have made your passion a reality
