Ouch, that has to hurt. 300 Million dollar lawsuit.

$300-million class-action lawsuit on behalf of residents who live close to the site of a powerful propane explosion accuses the City of Toronto of negligence for allowing a gas plant to operate in a residential area.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs said that while the aim is to compensate those who suffered property damage and emotional trauma after Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases blew up on the weekend, such legal action can result in policy changes.

“One of the effects we hope this lawsuit will have is that it will cause all levels of government to now look carefully at having propane establishments in residential areas,” said Richard Bogoroch, a personal injury lawyer who is litigating the class action with Harvin Pitch. “Something like this should never have happened.”
