What are you passionate about?

This is something that you are deeply interested in that you could turn into a business. We all have something that we’re passionate about we could make money from.

How much money do you want to make?

It’s been said there’s really no difference between making $100 and $1,000,000. However, a certain amount of effort will be required regardless of how much you decide you want to make.

The amount you want to make should be one of your goals. You should quantify this.

For example, if you’re selling a product for $20, and you want to earn $10,000 each month, you’ll need 500 customers.

Will you build a website and buy a domain? Building a website and buying a domain demonstrate that you’re a professional.

Can you learn to write? This really isn’t as difficult as it sounds. If you plan to market your business, and you’re starting out on a shoestring, you’ll need to learn how to write your sales materials.

If you can afford it, and the writing doesn’t appeal to you, then outsource it. There are plenty of sites online where you can find others to outsource this kind of project to, and they’re relatively inexpensive.

How do you plan to market? Your personality and skills are vitally important here. No matter how effective a marketing technique is, if you won’t do it, then the technique is really useless to you.

This is where your personality comes in. Choose marketing techniques that fit with your personality. If you like to write, then articles, press releases, and ebooks may be right for you. If you don’t, then you can learn to write ads, or market using pay per click or search engine optimization.

Consider your skills too. If you’re not a very good writer, you may need to polish your skills. If you don’t like marketing, then you’ll need to learn. It’s not as painful as you may think. You may still want to consider outsourcing this too if you won’t do it yourself. In the end, you’ll save time and money instead of driving yourself crazy because you aren’t doing it.

Now, once you’ve written your answers down, it’s time to formulate a plan for how you will get each task done.
