Those who wish to sing, always find a song.

To be successful, follow these steps in creating your own affirmations:

1. Use present tense. State your affirmations in present tense as if they have already happened. This raises your vibration as you tap into that good feeling of achievement, abundance, good health, happiness, etc. Example: I am thoroughly enjoying my new found abundance.

2. Say what you want. State only what you want and steer clear of words related to what you don’t want. Example: I am in wonderful health. I am a shining example of the Universe’s healing energy. Don’t use: I am cancer-free.

3. Get personal. Make your affirmations personal. As great as the ones you might find in books or on web sites, you will be better served by affirmations that you write based on your own needs and desires. Be creative and specific. These are for your eyes only; don’t hesitate to put into words what you truly want as your outcome.

4. Remember to believe. Choose affirmations that you can believe. You must be able to believe in the affirmation for it to really resonate with you, and create your desired outcome. This can be a step by step process. Start small with an affirmation that builds on what you can believe in now. Attain success with that first step, and then re-design your affirmation to reach a little further. Maybe your future affirmation can be: “I am successful in all aspects of my work.” And yet, maybe you want to start with this one: “I focus on completing one task at a time.” Or, “I am calm and confident when my boss walks into the room.”

Here are some ideas to help you identify your affirmations:

1. What do you want your life to be? Consider the areas in your life where you would like to see improvement. Some experts recommend that you look at all areas of your life to see which ones could use the most improvement – what have you been neglecting, where would you like to see change. These areas can be: spiritual, social, relationships, health and well-being, career, prosperity, physical surroundings, and educational.

2. Start small. Even though you may be looking at all areas of your life, if you are new to deliberate, positive affirmations, take one manageable step at a time. Do not tackle your biggest challenge; build your confidence muscle and your commitment to an affirmation routine with a goal that is a little less daunting.

3. Try out different affirmations until you get the right fit. As you begin, write down as many positive statements that address the area you want to improve. Which ones feel right? Review them and come up with one or two that seem to fit the bill. It is a lot easier than it sounds; you will know almost immediately which ones resonate in your heart. They will speak to you. Try them for a few days, you may need to tweak them as you write and say them out loud. As you repeat them, you will find better words to express your intention. This will make your affirmations more powerful and it will then attract more of that positive energy…
